Challenger Spotlight: Jill and Brett Wolfe, Wolfe’s BBQ Restaurant & Catering

Wolfe’s BBQ is a full service restaurant and catering business located in Marion, Virginia. It is family owned and operated by Jill Wolfe and husband Brett Wolfe. Wolfe’s BBQ’s mission is “to provide quality food with distinct flavors and excellent customer service with an inviting atmosphere for families and friends to meet.” Wolfe’s BBQ offers dine in, takeout, and catering services to their customers. Their specialty is smoked Texas-style brisket, ribs, pork, and smoked chicken wings. All their meats are smoked on site daily. They also offer other food aside from barbeque. These foods include burgers, hot dogs, catfish, salads, homemade sides, and desserts. Wolfe’s BBQ was awarded 1st place in Pop Up Marion and was given $5,000 as a start-up grant. Now, they’re at it again and participating in the Cup challenge. Jill wishes to expand Wolfe’s BBQ by adding a food truck to other areas outside of Marion, Virginia, yet still within the Southwest Virginia region. According to the Wolfes, “The food truck will create a cultural dining experience that is not yet seen in this area, which will only draw more tourism to our brick and mortar establishment in Marion, VA.” If given an award through the Cup challenge, the Wolfes wish to put any awards toward the food truck. Becoming mobile will enable Wolfe’s BBQ to serve patrons across Southwest Virginia at several locations as well as festivals and fundraisers. This will be good for public relations and will draw attention and interest to Wolfe’s BBQ. An internal goal would be to hire four part-time employees who could potentially become full-time. Another goal would be to increase tourism in the area. While participating in the Cup challenge, the Wolfes have gained knowledge on how to execute their future goals.
