City of Galax

Galax is an independent City located in Southwest Virginia in the heart of the Appalachian mountains. Galax has hosted the Old Fiddlers Convention since 1935 and has strong historical ties to bluegrass music in the Appalachian culture. Visitors can enjoy many attractions and activities such as festivals, farms and orchards, unique dining options, State Parks and recreation, arts, crafts and music. One of the most popular sites to see in Galax is the New River Trail State Park, a 57-mile-long park with a trail for hiking, biking & horseback riding, plus fishing & camping.
