Emerging Haysi-based Outfitter Competes in Business Challenge

Tammy Crandell of Coal Canyon Outfitters competed in the mySWVAopportunity Business Challenge. The Dickenson County based business was awarded a second place, $500 award to help continue business planning efforts. Crandell was judged on both the development of a business plan and a presentation of that plan in a culminating pitch, given in November.

Promoting outdoor adventures that build upon the rich natural assets of the area inclusing rivers, trails, scenic drives, and the spectacular Breaks Interstate Park are part of a regional strategy that includes Appalachian Spring and Spearhead Trails.  Crandell competed and collaborated with nine other emerging businesses in a two month program that included business plan development, networking, and learning about regional business opportunities.

The effort, led by People, Incorporated trainer Cindy Green will be held three more times in different locations around the seven-county region. Learn more here.
